Balancing Change and Quality...Moving in the Right Direction

I have always been the type of person who was not afraid to jump right into things when it came to learning.  I find it exciting to pick up something, figure it out, and then look for ways to put it to use.  If you look at the about page of Chew The Fat you can see I am interested in biking, hiking, running, music, books, movies, being a good dad, cross country skiing, home brewing, consuming quality brewed ale, compassion and peace, and protecting the earth.  I am sure I could add more to the list.

You will also notice that I have a thing for t-shirts...my own designs or others.  I have found it great fun to design shirts on Zazzle or Cafe Press and actually have people buy them.  I am caught up in blogging, adsense, being an amazon affiliate, and become extra excited when I checked the data on the visitors to Chew The Fat.  I still can't believe that I can earn a dollar here and there (not much more than that) through all of these avenues.

When I want to learn more I check out Problogger, Copyblogger, The World's Strongest Librarian, Zen Habits, The Fit and Busy Dad, Write to Done, and Raptitude.  I have learned more about social networking, writing, psychology,  and technology in the last year than any other year up to this point.  I am focused on things I value and, bottom line, I feel myself getting better.   What are my ultimate goals?  When I will find a way to focus my energy and discipline to fashion something of quality that will put me where I want to be.

As Stephen Covey says, I need to "Begin With The End in Mind".  So below I will now lay out publicly a starter set of goals for Chew The Fat.  When you read this list I would love to hear any suggestions or advice you might have.  How can I achieve my goals?   Am I missing something?  Are my goals out of whack?  If you can find the time I would truly welcome your feedback.  Send it to fatchomper at gmail dot com.  Here we go.
  •    I will become a better writer
  •    I will write to release, entertain, teach, improve, learn, and have fun
  •    I will be able to purchase my wife a fancy dinner with earnings from Chew The Fat
  •    I will write in an effort to share the greatness of life....a Fattitude of Gratitude and I will always  remember how good I have it
  •    I will write about my own interests and adventures
  •    I will write to offer something useful to others based on my own experience or research
  •    I will be as original as I know how
  •    I will make time to write on a weekly basis
  •    I will continually learn, and learn to grow
  •    I will blog in retirement to supplement my income
  •    I will never take myself too seriously or drink "too good" juice
As you can see I have a great deal of "stuff" swimming around in my head.  For me writing is reflecting, and reflecting coupled with persistence will get me where I'd like to be.  I really appreciate your visit to Chew the Fat.  I hope, in some way, your stop has been a positive one.  Life truly is a feast that tastes mighty good.
