Fattitude of Gratitude:

Earth Day 5 K Race to Recycle
Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy -- because we will always want to have something else or something more. - Brother David Steindl-Rast
Right on brother.  I write this Fattitude of Gratitude with aching quadriceps, a full belly, and a great football game on the tube.  This post will come out tomorrow so when I talk about my Brutal Bitter just know that I am not drinking in the a.m.

  • I ran a 5k and ended up with my best time every.  I am the first to admit that I am no speedy Clydesdale and am very excited with my thirty three minute finish.  I also ran it with my wife, daughter, brother, and his fiance.  After that we went to Beef-o-Rama.  Yes there was a parade of beef.
  • My Chicago Bears squeaked one out against Seattle.  Bear Down!!!
  • I am current sipping on one of my all time favorite ales - Rogue Brutal Bitter.  Such sweet nectar.
  • I made a compromise/bet with my wife regarding an Apple iPod Touch.  We really try to live simply but there is just something about that sleek techno gadget.  The bet is that I need to get below 200 pounds, then I can buy one, no questions asked (currently 219).  She doesn't think I can do it.  I must prove her wrong.
  • I have a great job teaching with benefits....including health care.  Not enough people can say that.
I raise my Brutal Bitter to all that is right with the world.  You know things are great when your biggest decision is whether to have another ale or not.
