J.D. Salinger, This Dude Abides

J.D. Salinger died today at the age of 91.  I can still remember reading The Catcher in the Rye and being somehow changed by it.  J.D. was a private man and will not even have a funeral service.  He has been giving this Abiding Dude status firstly because I wanted to, and secondly anyone that can create something new that has such a lasting impact deserves. 

Holden Caufield reminds me of some of the students in my class who just don't seem to fit.  I remember feeling like Holden back when I read The Catcher in the Rye my junior year of high school.
