Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me. -Steve Jobs

Teachers spend an incredible amount of time trying to find any possible way to reach and motivate students. There are kids each year that, no matter what my approach or persistence, just don't seem to wanna buy what I am selling.
The beautiful thing is that I have been doing this long enough (this is my 14th year as an 8th grade teacher) that I have seen many of my students grow into amazing adults. When I meet a former student who remembers one of my lessons I feel responsible for one beautiful and wonderful thing.
That feels good. It makes me want to do it again.
Today's Homework: Go forth and do something wonderful.
note: Yes I am a school teacher and very proud of it. Many parts of society have not placed us in the best light these days. I entered teaching thinking that it was a noble profession, and I still do. Everyday I see my amazing colleagues give everything they have to do right by kids.
Today's Homework #2: Get to know the teachers in your community. Visit the schools. See what goes on there. Every adult should do these things before they speak about education, teachers, and vote.
